At Pro Se Support Services, we provide affordable administrative and procedural support to individuals representing themselves in civil and family court. Our goal is to empower you to navigate the legal system with confidence. Below is an overview of how we can assist you.
Please note: We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice. Our services are limited to administrative and procedural support.
This pricing model is based on a flat fee for each service, determined by its complexity. The final fee for a client is then adjusted based on their income relative to the Area Median Income (AMI) for Otero County, NM.
The base fee is calculated as follows: $50 x Complexity Rating
We assist individuals with a range of civil matters, offering help with document preparation, filing procedures, and understanding court requirements for disputes such as small claims, landlord-tenant issues, and general civil complaints.
Navigating family law can be emotionally challenging. We provide compassionate assistance with divorce petitions, child custody arrangements, support modifications, and other family court documents and processes.
At Pro Se Support Services, our pricing is based on a sliding scale and the complexity of the service provided. We have assigned a complexity score to each case type to give you a transparent look at how we determine our fees.
Case complexity refers to the amount of time, legal knowledge, and administrative work required to complete the necessary paperwork for a case. We've rated our services on a scale of 1 to 10, where:
Complexity 1-3 (Low): These are straightforward, single-document filings or cases with a limited number of forms. For example, a "Name Change" is a Complexity 1 service. These cases require the least amount of time for our team to complete.
Complexity 4-6 (Medium): These cases involve multiple forms, require more detailed information from you, and may have administrative requirements that need careful attention. A "Divorce without Children" is a Complexity 6 service. These are typical for civil disputes with clear facts.
Complexity 7-10 (High): These are cases that involve multiple legal documents, extensive financial disclosures, or specific procedural steps that require a deep understanding of court rules. A "Divorce with Children" is a Complexity 9 service, and "Appeals" are a Complexity 10. These cases require the most time and effort from our team to ensure the paperwork is complete and accurate.
Our goal is to ensure our pricing is fair and reflects the administrative effort involved, allowing us to continue providing these essential services to the community.
We believe that no one should be denied access to justice due to their income. Our services are priced on a fair, sliding-scale model based on the Area Median Income (AMI) of Otero County. When you contact us, we'll discuss your specific situation and provide you with an upfront, flat fee for the services you need.
A Note on Court Fees: Please be aware that the fees for our services do not cover court-related costs. You will still need to pay a separate filing fee directly to the court. Most courts offer an Application for Free Process or Affidavit of Indigency, which can waive these fees for individuals who cannot afford them. We can provide assistance with completing these forms.
